SKIN IS IN

"I thought acne disappears once you hit your 20s, but boy was I wrong."

I have, to be honest, acne doesn't stop once you get to college. Well, it certainly didn't for me. Although it's definitely cleared up, I still face minor breakouts here and there. I should include my skin care regime was rather minimal... a possible reason breakouts still occurred. But I can't help it; college is time-consuming. The worst is after a night out; sometimes I even forgot to use a makeup wipe. So after evaluating my skin regime, weighing my options, and thinking about the consequences, I decided to take a stand and get in check. To make this easy for you (and me) all the products shown are from Meijer. Even living in a small town, Meijer still gives me options I love.

Over the last month, I've tried out various skin care products and found what works for me. Keep reading to see my not so secret skincare regime.

Before I spill my secrets, I figured I'd mention my skin type. I have extremely oily skin. (So oily, it looks as if I applied highlighter when I wake up in the morning.) Hopefully, this means I won't get wrinkles. Now onto my favs.

I don't care what anyone says; face masks are the bomb. Although using one face mask isn't going to cure your acne instantly, I think investing in a few different options and making it into a weekly habit can make a difference. My favorite is the Detoxifying Charcoal Mud Mask by Yes to Tomatoes. (Yes to Avocado face wipes are my all time favorite btw.) This mask is made to fight acne.

Although face masks are fun, here is the "real" cure to it all, the Neutrogena Light Therapy Mask (34.99 at Meijer). It slightly resembles something out of a comic book, but it gets the job done. The trick is, it uses both red and blue lights to reduce inflammation and kill bacteria. Although it looks like something you'd finding in a tanning bed, it's FDA cleared, chemical free, and UV free. The cool thing about this mask is you can literally see results after the first couple uses.

Although, I'm currently laughing at the image of myself, you won't be once you see your results.
