Brunch with Bloggers

Last Sunday the bloggers met for brunch. The combination of breakfast and lunch is no longer all about food. Instead, brunch is now an excuse to dress fabulous and network with all the right people. It also justifies Instagramming your food  don't worry, all the bloggers are doing it. This brunch created something special  The Detroit Fashion Blogger Alliance. This gives me and my fellow bloggers the opportunity to learn/work with each other. Be sure to check out these lovely ladies work in the links below

OOTD: Weekend Wanderlust

DAY ONE:
Dress: ASOS // Sandals: Steve Madden // Hat: Express

Wanderlust: A strong desire to travel.

Summer is about exploring, giving yourself a break from the classroom and would not be complete without a trip to Lake Michigan. Lazy days on the beach, endless shopping, delicious dinners and my personally favorite capturing it all on my camera. I spent a majority of my trip at the beach, however dinner was the exception. Here is a collection of OOTD dinner vacation style.

What to Wear: Festival Vibes

My Look
Hat: Target // Crop top: American Eagle // Joggers: Aerie // Sandals: Target

Festival season is coming up and for all you concert goers that means festival fashion. Wearing high waisted shorts and crop tops never seems to get old in the summer. I will be putting together a lookbook featuring my favorite bohemian wear that will be coming out next month. However, here is a sneak peak.

Since Michigan's temps are ranging from 60s to 70s, pants are still acceptable. Plus these are from Aerie are extra cozy. I paired mine with this cute knit crop top from American Eagle. If you haven't noticed yet, crop tops are a festival favorite. You can see anyone from Kendall Jenner to Bella Thorne sporting one at Coachella. With my top, I wore a three-tiered necklace from Lucky Brand. This necklace has both gold and silver giving you endless options for your other details. I usually like to match all my metals, so this necklace gives me the option to mix and match without clashing. Adding more jewelry, I wore my gold Alex and Ani bracelets. I love how effortless these bracelets look. To top off my outfit, I wore a black floppy hat, aka another festival necessity, and chestnut sandals that resemble Birkenstocks. It's important to wear comfy shoes; after a long day your feet will be killing you if you aren't sensible. Although, it's not pictured in this ootd I recommend bringing a small backpack. You are going to want something to carry all your necessities, and this will do just that, plus your phone will be safe and sound.

What to Wear: College Girl

My Look

It was my birthday... three weeks ago. I was going to publish this earlier, but I'm been struggling with what to say. All I know is my spring semester is coming to an end, and I'm swamped with papers, projects, and exams. It is crazy to think I've almost completed my first year in college. It certainly has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Although originally, I was going to be talking about turning 19, I felt a college guide might be more insightful.

How to get through your first year of college:

-Make friends with people in your hall. They are your neighbors for a reason. These people became the ones, I went out with, ate dinner with, and just hung around. When you are bored, you now have a hall filled with friends to choose from.

-There's a chance you'll end up with a roommate you don't necessarily get along with. I was lucky enough to have one who became a best friend; however, people do transfer and that's what she decided was the best option for her. Second semester I received a new suitemate and was extremely happy with the turnout. Although you may not get along with one of your roomies, it's not hard to be civil. Especially when it comes to the bathroom.

-No floor-cest, aka dating someone on your floor. I promise you it's not a good idea. You will see these people daily.

-Boys. I don't even know where to start with this one. In my experience, take advantage of ones who want to take you out on dates. (Who doesn't love free food?) Overall, what I've ultimately learned from this year is playing games get old. Be straightforward with what you want. If the guy isn't giving you the time of day, he's not worth it. I don't want to stereotype college boys; however, a lot of them want the same thing. If you are not into that, don't change yourself to be.

-Take advantage of the free activities your school offers. My residence offered free "workout" classes every day. Yoga was  my favorite. Working out in a gym, is so confusing to me so I'd much rather take a class. Plus who doesn't love free stuff?

-Get involved. I cannot stress this enough. I have many regrets my freshmen year. Not from something I did wrong but something I didn't do at all because I was scared. College isn't about hiding in your bedroom once classes dismiss, even though watching Netflix in your loft bed is so comforting. You won't truly get what you are looking for out of college if you don't get involved. I'm currently in FAMD, The Fashion Association of Merchandising and Design. It was such a great decision for myself, now I have made friends with girls in my program as well as gone to fashion related events in Michigan.

-Although, I mentioned how getting involved is important, so is relaxing. So if you decide to binge watch a series on Netflix, I highly recommend Gossip Girl. Although Blair Waldorf makes college look like a fashion show, it isn't.

-Go to class. Once you skip, you'll be tempted to do it again. You never know when your teacher will surprise you with a quiz or extra credit. I know my grades suffered the more I would miss my class, so just go, you are paying for it.

-8 ams are a no go. Unless you are forced or just enjoy waking up at 7am, I don't advise taking an 8am class. Waking up every other day at that time was a struggle. Also when you are scheduling for classes make sure and give yourself time to get lunch. Going to class hungry is worse than going tired.

-You will run out of money. I didn't want to overwhelm myself; however, I think that was my excuse for not getting a job. However, if you don't get one, don't expect to buy those Doc Martin boots you were looking at. Unfortunately, the money you saved from summer just runs out, and you are forced to eat cafe food instead of the Qdoba you've been craving.

-Cafe food. (The grilled cheese day is always my favorite.) There will be days when nothing they serve sounds even relatively good. That's why cereal, microwaveable pizza, and easy mac will be your lifesaver.

-If going out isn't your thing; that's okay. However if you choose to drink, be safe about it. (Beer before liquor never sicker, liquor before beer in the clear.)

I think that is all the tips I have for now. If you have any other questions about college, comment below or send me an email. I'd be happy to help.

P.S Always put water in your Easy Mac. It sounds so simple, but I've been woken up at 4 in the morning because the microwave caught fire. Don't be that person.

College Life. Staples.

I admit this picture was taken before college, but in my defense taking OOTD pictures during college is a hectic experience. However blogging is a different story. I mean I should probably be reading chapter one of my communication book, but homework can wait right?…. haha. Anyways enough on college, on to the outfit. My blouse is from Ann Taylor Loft. It was purchased along with a bunch of back to school goodies. Including the black jeans I'm wearing from Pac Sun. My favorite part of this outfit though, are the studded sandals inspired by Birkenstocks. I've gotten numerous compliments on these shoes plus they are so comfortable. My accessories usually stay quite consistent. My leather Michael Kors bag and gold Fossil watch are my go to grabs. They go well with my whole wardrobe, so I would consider them staples in my closet. As a student, I think staples are important, especially because you can only bring so much to college. So relying on key pieces that go well with multiple things is essential. Well it looks like that is the end of my outfit. I'm going to try and post frequently throughout college but I'm not making any promises. I always seem to break them:p
